Why Participants are Important in Clinical Trails

When the medical research team wants to develop a vaccine, medication, treatment, and medical devices. Clinical trials are the only mechanism in the medical science to check the efficacy of the drug or treatment and to know about the safety of the drugs because if the trials are not approved by the FDA then not any drug, treatment will not use in the world and it is mostly considered unsafe. There are four phases that every drug, treatment, and vaccine has to pass through them. Participants in the clinical Trails are an integral part of the clinical trials without participants, not no research could be conducted.

How each clinical trial phase is different from others?

Each and every phase is important in clinical research and if the drug or treatment is not approved at any trial then it will not be approved for use or to market. All phases in the clinical trials are different in terms of participants while the aim of the trials in every trial is the same. The aim is to check the efficacy and to find out the most benefits but it should be safe to use for human health or just have minor side –effects that could be managed.

Phase I

In the first phase of the clinical trial, only a small group of people participate in the trial and give their bodies to check the safety of the drug. At this first, safety is the most important thing. In this phase the participants of the research are healthy.

Phase II

People struggling with diseases or the ones who live with any particular medical condition are invited to have the dose of the drug to check the safety of the drug on the people who are not fit by health. In this phase, the number of people in a group mostly consists of 100 to 300.

Phase III

A large number of people from a diverse population with different living environments are invited to check the efficacy, benefits, and safety of the drugs on people from different living conditions. A large number of people involves in this phase mostly around 3000 or more than that.

Phase IV

This phase of a clinical trial is not conducted on the research center because in this phase FDA monitors the drug to check is it beneficial and safe for use.

People who participate in the trials are the people who help entire humanity.
